We are ordinary people who want to provide accurate information to people about circumcision in Australia. The Royal Australian College of Physicians states:
“After reviewing the currently available evidence, the RACP believes that the frequency of diseases modifiable by circumcision, the level of protection offered by circumcision and the complication rates of circumcision do not warrant routine infant circumcision in Australia and New Zealand.”
Despite this, there is no authority willing to ensure that doctors in Australia are providing comprehensive information on circumcision for parents to make an informed decision. Their websites are full of all the purported ‘benefits’ with barely a mention of the risks of the procedure itself and the long term impact on male sexual health.
This blog is an attempt to correct this.
Almost as outrageous as the act itself is the fact that it can happen in the context of the most lax consent procedures imaginable. My son was (apparently) legally circumcised without my consent. Please visit http://www.MyCircumcisionDisgrace.org
